Despite being the world’s 3rd largest producer of olive oil Greeks and visiting tourists consumed most of it, leaving small quantities for exports mostly in bulk to increase Italy’s wanting stock. Given the superior quality the national varietal, Koroneiki, we set out to carve market niches in the USA to showcase its value.
Our current challenge is to have our olive oil fuel the trend towards the Mediterranean Diet in the leading universities in the USA and meet the Plant Forward Movement’s Supply Chain Integrity and Resilience for a product that is almost entirely imported in the country from sources not all clearly identifiable of the product.
